About this time of year, I start to prepare my “READ THIS before you say YES for (INSERT YEAR)” list.
I include all my events like art shows, retreats, classes and big projects like “update my website.” I also add in my on going projects like newsletters and monthly meetings. I add consultations, courses and side projects that I’ve been wanting to explore. Then I put in holidays or down time I plan to take and my self care stuff like yoga classes.

I don’t spend too much time making the list very fancy and I often pop things on it in no particular order but as you can imagine with in about 20 minutes of browsing my calendar, reflecting and dreaming a bit my list gets really long!
Will I accomplish all of this? Probably not, but that isn’t the point of the exercise for me.
I’ll return to this list over the next month or so, to add things and take things away.
This list is a very powerful tool. It is not about goal setting at all. It makes me face my commitments and really figure out my priorities. It is a great place to land when something pops into my inbox and I’m not sure if it is a yes or a no. I can go back to my list and make a decision based on my time but most importantly my true priorities.
I wanted to share because I know that this time of year can feel very overwhelming. I also use this to reign in some of my New Year enthusiasm that has had me over committing in the past!
I hope this is helpful and reach out if you want to chat more about it.
