On That Matter

Statement

As an abstract painter, I’m drawn to the quiet complexity of the forest—the intricate, often unnoticed microcosms of moss, lichen, roots, and decay. These spaces are teeming with quiet intelligence and resilient beauty. My work seeks to listen to these ecosystems and give voice to their stories.

This series is an offering of hope. While rooted in the dense, layered world of the forest floor, it was created with a sense of lightness—thin veils of oil paint, intentional white space, and breathing room on the canvas. I wanted each piece to feel like a deep breath, a moment of stillness and spaciousness in a world that can feel overwhelmingly loud.

I’m less interested in representing a scene and more compelled by the felt experience of being within it—of standing still long enough to hear the whisper of a mycelial network or witness the slow choreography of light through leaves.

Painting is my way of participating in the conversation between land and life. Each piece is a reverent gesture, shaped by emotion, intuition, and deep ecology.
